HELLO, RICHMOND!
On Sunday, September 14, 2008, take part in The Great Prostate Cancer Challenge 5k Run/1 Mile Fun Walk of Richmond. During the Inaugural Run/Walk held in Baltimore in 2007, over 1,200 participants raised upwards of $125,000 for prostate cancer research. The Prostate Cancer Challenge of 2008 is being brought to Richmond! Proceeds will benefit the American Urological Association Foundation, which can support prostate cancer research, screenings and awareness programs in our local community.

The Course and Awards

The course begins in front of the Stony Point Virginia Urology Center and goes through Fashion Park. Awards will be given to the top male and female runners overall, the top male and female runners in various age groups, the top fundraising team, and the largest team.

HEALTH FAIR
Bring the whole family
There will be activities for everyone. Enjoy vendors, giveaways, prizes and food. We will have a special tent to recognize prostate cancer survivors and fun, free activities for children. The health fair will have professionals to help you learn how to improve your life and the lives of your family. Fair will run from 8 a.m. to noon.

Free Prostate Screenings
You may be eligible for a prostate screening at the fair. Staff will be on hand to screen men for eligibility*. Eligible men may receive a free screening from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

*Eligible men must be age 50-80, or age 40 or older if African American, or have a first-degree relative diagnosed with prostate cancer, and have not had a screening in the last 12 months.

Try the da Vinci Robotic Surgical System
The da Vinci provides the latest, state-of-the-art surgical treatment for prostate cancer confined to the prostate gland. A da Vinci robot will be on display Thursday, Sept. 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Stony Point Virginia Urology Office. Sit down at the console and use the panel to move the robot’s surgical arms just like the surgeon would.
