Brief Description

Get ready for The Great Prostate Cancer Challenge® 5K Run/1Mile Fun Walk in Nashville on Saturday, September 11, at 7:30 am. During our inaugural Run/Walk in 2009 we raised over $50,000 to support prostate cancer research and education for the city of Nashville. Your participation will raise money for research, awareness, and testing. Urology Associates, P.C. is pleased to announce the 3rd annual Great Prostate Cancer Challenge® in Nashville! The proceeds will benefit our national partner ZERO — The Project to End Prostate Cancer, as well as The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation in Middle Tennessee. About the Great Prostate Cancer Challenge®

The GPCC is the only physician-based prostate cancer awareness and fund-raising program in the country. Urology Associates, P.C. joined the GPCC in 2008 to create awareness and raise funds for prostate cancer research in the Middle Tennessee region. Fourteen cities in the past 3 years have now committed to the GPCC cause for 2010 and more cities are in the works for the coming years.

In 2009, a new partner and beneficiary, ZERO — The Project to End Prostate Cancer, joined forces with the GPCC in its efforts to help save lives through screening, awareness and advocacy, and funds for prostate cancer research. Last year, over 400 men in the Middle Tennessee region took advantage of free screenings as a result of this race.

Urology Associates, P.C. is proud to bring the 3rd annual Great Prostate Cancer Challenge® to Nashville.

About ZERO — The Project to End Prostate Cancer

Through awareness, outreach, advocacy and research, ZERO challenges American men to set aside their complacency and change their attitudes about early detection.

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month

According to the American Cancer Society, one in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. The disease is most prevalent in African Americans, men over 50 and men with a family history of prostate cancer. Awareness, screening and research are key in fighting this disease!
